Sade sati is a transit like any other, but if Sani is afflicted in your chart, you will face great challenges. In my chart sani is in 12th house, weak and afflicted, with Mars also in the 12th house.

Out of personal experience, if Sani is not well positioned in your chart, you will- without any doubt- suffer a great deal.

But there is hope!

The key is to act like Shani: modest,slow,disciplined,hard work,NO indulgence of any kind,accept loneliness, meditate or take a spiritual hobby.

If you are not able to make this change of character the solution is in reciting the Sani mantra's. After a while your character will change itself, you will be more disciplined, save more money, be OK with being alone, and more features of Sani.

"OM PRAANG PRIEN PROUNG" 8 X 108 times per day for a periode of 6 months.

Chant daily (9X) the gaytri of sani "SANAISCARYA WIEDMEHE, MEHAADEVAAJE DHIEMEHIE, TENNO SANIDEV PRACHODAYAAT". This mantra is one of the best there is. Sani will be very pleased when you acknowledge him as "mehaadevaaje". Try it, you won't regret it.

Chant daily(9X) the puranic mantra NILANJANA SAMA BHASAM RAVIPUTRAM YAMA GRAJAM CHHAAYA MARTANDA SAMBHOOTAM TAM NAMAMI SHANAISHCHARAM

Good luck! And don't forget, Sani is the great teacher. He can do it the hard way, or you can chant the mantra's and will experience the less radical side of sade sati. In any case, you will change! There is no escape!

There is no such phase as saade saati, as all days are governed by self & this governance will be pure, if you are morally & spiritually strong.

Moral strength can be cultivated from childhood, & if not cultivated, then its better to start cultivating, at lease from this instant...

I have simha raashi. I am really enjoying this phase of the so called saade saati, which they say, started from Aug 2004 & ends in Jan 2012. I have become stronger & stronger in this phase & become morally stronger..........

hi... my rashi and lagna is virgo.almost since 3 years i have been going thru worst patch of my life...financial challanges haunted me for first 2 years(only losses and no income) but with god grace and hard work i overcame it....it deed taught me a lesson and changed my life for better and made me a better person....but no sooner did i overcame overcame financial challange that other problem cropped up.... not one but many of them.....so i think sade sati is for real....there will be challanges but its meant to make you a good person than ever before....face them...learn from your mistake...be courageous and you will emerge out as a better person.....last but not the least have faith in GOD....

The malaise with so called "modern day vedic astrology" is that it is completely disconnected from spirituality and the scriptures which actually give any credibility to it in the first place. The attempts to modernise vedic astrology are a clear result of this. I suggest sir, that since you happen to be in this category, you should study the vedic scriptures very carefully and synchronise your understanding of astrology with spiritual knowledge which can only come with following spiritual practices and only THEN go on to make these judgements. With all due respect and honour you deserve, I do not challenge your knowledge of jyotish shastra, but it is clearly still in a stage where it is maturing and so you shouldn't make such judgements and confuse people even more.

As for sade sati, there is nothing to worry about it. I completely agree with you. But it is real nonetheless. Just as real as the existence of planet Saturn. It has a profound effect on people's lives. It is a learning period and not one to be worried about though it brings worries and gains depending to the amount of sanchit karma one has in his account. It is an essential part of life. One who learns from sade sati, will be sucessful. One who refutes it or is scared, will only see misery. This is how things are.

Anyhow, good luck to all those who are facing sade sati and I would encourage a non-judgemental and rational approach to studying sade sati and jyotish shastra in general, and specifically, in the light of vedic scriptures. Do not disconnect yourself and make astrology a dry subject. It's not mathematics by itself. There is more to it. Look inwards before you look at the texts and study astrology.

Hi Puneet,

Felt much better after reading your article,it was very transparent on its views, being a virgo I have gone through a lot of trouble from 2006 mostly financial and yeah loads of depression and lack of mental peace .But this year I got married and also for no reason I left my job. Somehow recently I have been facing weird feelings where for no reason depression has increased when there is no reason to be sad ,financial worries still persist but I have learned a lot how to manage things in a smart and effective way .Even I was abroad for a couple of times .One thing for all sadhe sati ppl is if ur are scared you will fall for more depression and if you are having ur basics right, full faith in god and hard work and learn from your mistakes you will definitely do well thou I know I mentioned too many paramaters but after reading all of the members above I also thought why not personally share some views of mine which might help someone out there.

If anyone really wants to know what happens in a sade sati he should read shani chalisa carefully .. everything is explained very neatly and clearly .. and believe me I have experienced everything word to word ...And I read it only 3 months back and realised that I was seeking answers from every single person, god and the answers were right there ... However I do agree PUNIT on a couple of aspects .. This period has changed me for good thats what I feel from within .. I myself passing thorough Period of sade sati(Moon Sign -Virgo, Ascedent-Aquarius) and had been having wonderful experiences.

When sade sati started in early 2006, was the exact time at which I left my job and started business with my friend.

One astrologer asked me 'Who asked you to start business in sade sathi?' I didn't have answer.

Since last 3 years I don't have any income but many things to learn from and being practical in life. I have also experienced being much frustrated and impatient. I also got detached from my family and friends.

But I know I am passing through the period of transition and have to be more patient.
